Peter is a member of the Migration Institute of Australia (MIA). He was a member of the Australian Computer Society (ACS), Singapore Computer Society (SCS), Institution of Engineers, Singapore (IES) and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE). Peter holds a B. Eng (Hons) majoring in computer engineering which explains his unique understanding of matters concerning technology skills assessments. Interestingly, Peter wrote a technical paper for the Internet Society's conference more than a decade ago which was presented in Montreal, Canada.
He is also a Justice of the Peace in New South Wales.
Peter also actively participates in various Australian immigration related internet forums and newsgroups using his online handle ptlabs, and has been doing so since 2002. His keen personal interest in Australian immigration law and immigration related topics in general led him to register himself as an Australian migration agent in 2004 after successfully obtaining a certificate (with distinction) in Australian Citizenship & Immigration Law from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2003.
Peter and his family live in Sydney. He is fluent in English and Malay, has conversational Mandarin and Cantonese, and basic knowledge of Indonesian and French.
A bit of trivia: Ptlabs is pronounced as "petey-labs" and Chiam is pronounced like "Cheese, yummy" :-)
