Ptlabs Consulting Pty Ltd is an Australian company specialising in skilled, employer-sponsored, partner and family migration to Australia. Peter Chiam is the director of the company and the registered migration agent providing immigration assistance to our clients.

Peter is a member of the Migration Institute of Australia and an associate member of the Law Society of New South Wales. He was a member of the Australian Computer Society, Singapore Computer Society, Institution of Engineers, Singapore and Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers. Peter holds a B. Eng (Hons) majoring in computer engineering which explains his unique understanding of matters concerning technology skills assessments. His honours dissertation was on computer vision and detection. Interestingly, Peter wrote a technical paper for the Internet Society's conference more than a decade ago which was presented in Montreal, Canada.

He also serves the community as a Justice of the Peace in New South Wales.

Since 2002, Peter has been participating in various Australian immigration related internet forums and newsgroups using his online handle ptlabs. His keen personal interest in Australian immigration law and immigration related topics in general led him to register himself as an Australian migration agent in 2004 after successfully obtaining a certificate (with distinction) in Australian Citizenship & Immigration Law from the University of Technology, Sydney in 2003.

In his other life, Peter got/gets his hands dirty with technologies like Perl, ActivePerl, Borland Delphi, Turbo BASIC, Quick BASIC, Visual Basic, Borland C++ Builder, ASP, PHP, Javascript, Fortran, PL/SQL, Transact-SQL, Apache administration and XHTML/CSS. He was a professional programmer, analyst, consultant and project manager in corporations like PricewaterhouseCoopers Consulting and IBM Business Consulting Services with industrial knowledge in the internet, banking/finance and warehouse/supply chain domains. This website was designed and coded by Peter.

Peter and his family live in Sydney. He is fluent in English and Malay, has conversational Mandarin and Cantonese, and basic knowledge of Indonesian and French.
